Bloomin' Takes The Place of Because It's Christmas March 27th, 2010

When the curtain parts and the stage of the Rearden Theater at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School comes alive with the sights and sounds of spring on Saturday, March 27th, those in the audience will be in for a treat. While not a Christmas show like the previously scheduled “Because It’s Christmas” sponsored by the Georgia Mountain Laurel magazine and the Blue Ridge Symphony Orchestra, the new show promises to be even more entertaining and enjoyable. “Because It’s Christmas” was postponed in late December due to bad weather and has been renamed, revised and geared toward renewal. The show is appropriately named “Bloomin’ - A Celebration of Youth and Renewal” with many of the same performers who were scheduled to appear in BIC.
“You will see faces you know and be amazed by their talent. We had an outstanding show in 2008 and while the 2009 show had to be postponed, I can honestly say that I think this one will be amazing. There is so much to celebrate about spring and of course Easter,” commented Georgia Mountain Laurel magazine Publisher Tracy McCoy.
An evening performance is scheduled at 7:00 PM, but preceding the show at 6:00 PM is an exciting new addition to this charity event. “Creative Kids” is an art competition that includes submissions from Rabun County, GA and Macon County, NC youth. The competition is open to all children up to18 years of age and contains all mediums of art. The art will be categorized according to age and medium and votes may be cast by show attendees for their favorite. Each vote costs $1 and can be placed in a box in front of the work of each piece of art. All proceeds from the Creative Kids contest go to Kid’s Place in Franklin, NC, while the proceeds from “Bloomin’” go to help Rabun County children through Richard’s Kids. For information on entering your child’s work in the Creative Kids competition contact your child’s school or the Rabun Chamber of Commerce or Macon Chamber of Commerce.
Not just any musical show, “Bloomin’” will leave you with a hope that will carry you through to brighter days, will leave you longing for warm sunshine on your face and it will make you want to plant something…. in fact if you attend the show you will be planting seeds of hope for our children.
Seating is limited and tickets to “Bloomin’” are available at the Rabun County Chamber of Commerce and the Macon County Chamber of Commerce or you may call 706.982.9197 or 706.782.1608 to reserve your tickets for pick-up at the door. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. If you are holding tickets to “Because It’s Christmas” those tickets are valid for this show. You will be glad that you attended and will be left looking forward to the next show.
